FONTEN organizes local initiatives and participates in international events to increase the visibility and acceptance in the community of people with disabilities. Past events have included International Day of People with Disabilities, FONTEN day at the beach with some of our young patients, flag day, etc. There is a need for education of the general population and empowerment of persons with disabilities – many people face discrimination due to physical or mental disabilities. As resources become available we will be expanding this program and our capacity to participate in global initiatives while organizing local community engagement, education and advocacy for persons with disabilities in our home region.
